Oracy at The Grove

Developing oracy at The Grove Junior School is a key priority within our School Development Plan. Spoken language underpins all areas of learning and empowers pupils to become confident, articulate communicators. High-quality oracy teaching enables children to express ideas clearly, listen respectfully and engage thoughtfully with diverse viewpoints, fostering collaboration and critical thinking across the curriculum. It equips pupils with the skills to advocate for themselves, challenge ideas constructively, and build knowledge collectively, preparing them for academic success and active participation in society. By valuing every child’s voice and teaching that communication is rooted in respect and empathy, we ensure that pupils leave school ready to use their voices responsibly and effectively in the wider world.
